How often do I need to arrange safety checks for my rental property?
Changes to the Victorian Residential Tenancies Act in March 2021 made it compulsory for residential rental properties to undergo a:
- Smoke Alarm Safety Checks every year,
- Electrical Safety Check every two years, and
- Gas Safety or service with a carbon monoxide Check every two years
These safety checks have been introduced and made mandatory to ensure the safety of residential rental properties and tenants.
